Bagudu gives assurance of returning IDP's back to their homes in Zuru Emirate


Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has given an assurance of returning internally displaced persons back to their homes to continue with their normal life especially agricultural production.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu made this known at an IDP Camp at Ribah headquarters of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area this Saturday at the flag-off and distribution of food and non-food items to hundreds of displaced persons by the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons performed by the Federal Commissioner of the Agency, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu expressed delight about the gradual return of peace to areas affected by banditry in Zuru Emirate.

He commended the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for providing necessary security presence involving the police, army and other security services to all the affected communities.

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu welcomed the desire of those displaced to return to their homes and engage in agricultural production.

The Governor said Kebbi state received IDPs from neighbouring states of Zamfara, Sokoto and Niger, assuring that his administration would continue to provide the essential support to them and encourage the enrolment of their children into schools for formal education.

He thanked the Federal Commissioner for Refugees, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim for visiting the displaced persons in their location to assess the situation on ground and for providing food and non-food items to them.

In an address, the Federal Commissioner, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim thanked the Governor of Kebbi State for facilitating her visit to the area and to interact with the IDPs about their needs.

She said President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to the provision of adequate support to them, including socio-economic amenities, security and healthcare services.

Also speaking, a Director of the IDPs, Alhaji Musa Mohammad Kangiwa informed the displaced persons that all items provided to them made up of mattresses, food, clothing, detergent, drugs, women wrapper were free while a two-day medical outreach would be organized to provide them with medical treatment.

Other speakers include Hon. Haliru Aliyu Wasagu of Danko/Wasagu West in the State House of Assembly, Chairman of Danko/Wasagu Local Government, Hon. Hussaini Aliyu Bena, the Chief of Wasagu Chiefdom, Alhaji Mukhtar Musa Wasagu, Hafsat Mohammed Gwami, Sole Administrator Maga/Kyabu Area Development Shehu Sarkin Fawa Dankade, and Malama Nasara Mai Gero Dankade, who were happy about the presence of Army, Police at Unashi, Bena, Ayu, Wasagu, Ribah and Maga.

They however would want the Federal and State Governments to as a matter of urgency increase additional security personnel at Dankade which they described as a danger zone due to the activities of bandits and kidnappers.
