Bagudu affirms commitment to actualize rural transformation with access roads


Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has affirmed commitment to the ultimate actualization of the policy thrust of his administration of rural transformation with emphasis on the construction of access roads.

Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu made this emphasis at the Palace of the Emir of Zuru, Retired Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami this Saturday during a courtesy call on the monarch in company of the Federal Commissioner National Commission for Refugees, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim in the course of their working visit to the Emirate.

The governor however expressed concern about the attitude of the contractors who abandoned the projects awarded by the Federal Government of Koko-Dabai-Zuru road, Birnin Yauri – Zuru road and the Zuru Gadar Zainma Road, assuring that the state government would take up the matter to ensuring that the contractors return to site.

He told the Emir that, Gwazawa Cassava Production in pursuance with the MoU signed with the NNPC would be sustained while soya-beans production would receive priority.

In a remark, the Federal Commissioner informed the Emir that she was at his palace to pay homage in the course of her visit to Ribah IDPs camp for the provision of support that include food and non-food items as well as free medical outreach to the IDPs.

She explained that about five hundred people would benefit from the outreach including persons with eye defects while educational facilities, economic and agricultural support would be provided.

Hajiya Imaan commended traditional rulers, states and local government officials, elders and security agencies for providing support to IDPs in the area.

In response, the Emir of Zuru, Retired Major-General Muhammad Sani Sami Sami Gomo II welcomed her to his domain and expressed appreciation to the federal commissioner for visiting the affected persons in the Emirate as well as providing support to cater for their welfare.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for providing additional security personnel to the area which helped the IDPs to continue with agricultural productions.

The Emir thanked the Governor for approving the construction of the Maga-Riba road to enhance free movement of people and goods.

The Governor was in company of the former Governor of Jigawa State, Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, Ag. Head of Service, Safiyanu Garba Bena, the Deputy Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Usman Ankwai as well as members of the house of assembly from the area
