100 CORRECTIONAL SERVICE OFFICERS BEGINS 3 MONTHS COURSES IN KEBBI.

No fewer thank 100 Deputy Supretendent of Corrections (DSC) drawn from the 36 States of the Federation and the FCT have commenced a three months training in Birnin-Kebbi, the Kebbi State Capital.
The training College which is the second of its kind in the Northwest zone of the Country was located in Kebbi State courtesy of the immediate past Comptroller General of the Service, Alhaji Jaafaru Ahmed.
Ahmed in his speech at the inauguration of the College urged participating officers to work harder in order to acquare knowledge and skills that could be imparted on prisoners which would change their attitude.
Also speaking, the pioneer Commandant of the College, Hamisu Isah, ststed that the inauguration marked the official take off of the College, adding that the backlog of untrained senior staff across the Country informed the set up of the College to assist the existing one.
He commended the State governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for donating the land on which the College was built, noting that the College was to train participants on how to properly handle prison inmates inline with global trends.
The Commandant noted further that establishing the College was part of new method adopted to improve Officers of Nigeria Correctional services to be in tune with modern methods to properly handle and educate inmates.
Earlier in his speech, the State governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Suleiman Muhammad Argungu congratulated the course participants, assuring that the College would boost the capacity of participants in the management of prison inmates.
Governor Bagudu decried the increasing rate and numbers of youths in the Correctional Centres cross the Country describing it as not only surprising but annoying, pointing out that the new system will reform the system to make discharged inmates more productive and patriotic citizens of Nigeria.
