BREAKING: Customs in Kebbi seizes 104 percels of Indian hemp, 359. sacks of diazepam, 70 packs of Tramadol, hands over to NDLEA

The Nigerian Customs Service NCS, Kebbi state Area Command, had seized and handed over to NDLEA Kebbi command 104 percels of Indian hemp, 359 sacks of diazepam and 70 packs of tramadol.

This was made known during handing over breifing of the drug by the Comptroller of Customs Kebbi Area Command Dr. Ben Oramalugo to the Commander NDLEA Kebbi state Command at the customs command headquarters Birnin kebbi on Friday 16, June, 2023.

Oramalugo said men of the command had successfully intercepted a vehicle through stop and search along Kamba/Kyangakwai road following a tip of from a well meaning citizen. 


He added that officers and men of the command were able to identify the matching vehicle suspected to be conveying the concealment. 

"After thorough search and examination, the vehicle mentioned matches the description of the suspected vehicle with chasis No. IHGRC3KEA246069 and fortunately, one hundred and four (104) parcels (Laptop size of 1kg each) of cannabis sativa, and ninety nine (99) 5mg diazepam tablets was found concealed in the vehicle driven by the suspect of middle age named Suleiman Yusuf (Popularly known as Babangida)"

"In  a similar event, an abandoned seizure made of 70 packs of TramakingTtramadol (225mg) and 260 diazepam tablets (5mg) was captured on Monday, the 5th of June 2023 at Kamba/Rijiyar Maikafi bush by the same patrol team, but no suspect was apprehended". He added.


Dr. Oramalugo said the item valued at thirthy seven million, eight hundred and twenty thousand (N37, 820,000) and the suspect will be handed to NDLEA Kebbi state command for further action.

According to the NCS Comptroller, items seized within the period under review are:

1. 104 percels of cannabis sativa (Indian hemp) and 99 diazepam tablets (5mg)
2. 70 packs of  Tramaking/Tramadol (225mg) and 260 diazepam tablets (5mg)
3. 107 foreign parboiled rice (50kg)
4. 38 bales of secondhand clothing
5. 1.275 litres of PMS 
6. 52 jerricans of vegetable oil.
7. 1 Honda Accord 2014 vehicle.
8. 1 used opel vehicle 


"The duty paid value (DPV) of the items stands at sixthy four million six hundred and and thirteen thousand five hundred and ninety four (N64, 613, 594)". He said.

Dr Oramalugo commended men of the command for their gallant and patriotic performance towards ensuring the success of the operation. He added that the command will be steadfast in carrying it core mandate and stand on zero tolerance on smuggling, particularly fuel and foreign parboiled rice.
