CBN, NOA TAKES NEW NAIRA NOTES SENSITIZATION TO MARKET, MOTOR PARKS, SHOPS, STALLS IN KEBBI.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Kebbi state branch last weekend took the sensitization rally of the new naira notes to market, motor parks, retails shops and stalls for them to be adequately informed to change their old currency notes to the new ones before the January 31st dead line.

CBN branch manager In Kebbi, Malam Dantsoho Abdullahi in collaboration with the State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA) and their Staff jointly participated in the rally  told market men and women, travellers and motor park officials, shop owners and passers-bye that introducing the new notes is a way of helping their business to grow by checkmating counterfeiting, strengthen the economy and to promote financial inclusion which would invariably allow Central bank monitors money supply.

Dantsoho explaines that the decision to redesigned the naira was to also reduced cash management, adding that 800 percent of money in circulation are not in the bank which has allowed fraudsters destroy the economy beyond imagination.

He urged the market traders to go and deposit their money in the bank before deadline and to those who have no account to open one to avoid lateness.

In his remarks during the rally, the State Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Joseph Yaro Machika said that the agency have the mandate of the CBN to sensitizes the people of Kebbi State on the new naira note redesigned and its economic importance.

He stated that NOA is at the peak of sensitization as the Agency has been up and down across the State, adding that people should endeavour to take their money to the bank before the deadline date.

Michika directed that the old notes be deposited to the banks or any other platforms of banking operations before 31 Jan. 2023, assuring that banks has been directed to open for transactions for deposit  of old notes  from  Monday to Sunday without charges within his time frame. 

“The Jan. 31st still remain deadline for all Nigerians to deposit their old naira notes in the banks. The CBN is doing everything within its powers to make the new notes available for banks to dispense through their ATM." He said.
