KEBBI HISBAH TO CELEBRATE 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Extols Gov Bagudu’s support

The Kebbi state Hisbah - the guardian of moral and societal rectitude has set Saturday, 10th and Sunday 11th of September this year to celebrate its 20th Anniversary and to showcase its contributions to the maintenance of societal law, order and the preservation of norms and values of the state.

Established in 2000, the Hisbah Board has played a vital and significant role in dealing with moral decadence and disorderly conduct in the past 22 years of its existence. It has, within the period secured convictions against persons who transgressed and broke laws. In the same vein, it has handled several out-of-court settlements between persons thereby promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.

Speaking to journalists on the forthcoming celebration scheduled to hold in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi state capital, the Director of Sharia of the Board Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Angie revealed that the achievements recorded by the board and its relevance in keeping the law were the reasons that informed the decisions to organize the Anniversary. He remarked that the commendable roles which the present Governor of Kebbi state Senators Atiku Bagudu has played in rendering critical support to the Board is worthy of being highlighted and acknowledged by the entire Kebbi community.

He said since its creation, the Kebbi Hisbah has never had it so good like in the present dispensation.

Alhaji Mohammed Augie further said that for the first time since it’s creation, the Hisbah operatives have never had their official uniform renewed until the Atiku Bagudu administration purchased new sets of uniforms for them, adding that this singular act has rekindled hope and has given the operatives a new zeal to work harder.

In addition, the Director noted, the Kebbi state government has recently given the Board an 18-seater bus as well as brand operational motorcycles to all field workers. Again, he said, the unserviceable operational vehicle had its engine replaced to add to logistic power of the Board.

In his own submission, the state Commandant of the Board Alhaji Suleiman Mohammed said no file from the Board asking for one form of approval or the other has ever been turned back by the Governor without tacit approval.

He revealed that the same prompt action the Governor treats memos from the Board was extended to the request for funding for the impending 20th Anniversary.

He said the prompt approvals given to the Board were a demonstration of Senator Atiku Bagudu’s commitment to the work of the Hisbah office. He commended the Governor and assured him of the Board’s readiness to live above board in ensuring the success of its statutory mandate.

The Anniversary proper will start on Saturday 10th September with the destruction of alcoholic drinks and dangerous drugs which the Board seized from barons and other criminally minded persons.

On Sunday 11th of September, a book cataloguing the work of the Board since its inception will be presented to the public. On the same date, a public lecture on ‘’The consequences of moral decay and its implications to societal harmony’’ will hold in the state capital.
