KEBBI CUSTOMS WARNS CAR DEALERS ON FG POLICY, GENERATES N49.419 MILLION IN TWO MONTHS.

Vehicles importers have been warned that the Federal Government policy on restriction of vehicle importation to seaports still subsists.
This warning was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller, Kebbi Command, Comptroller Joseph Attah while showing the 2021 Model Toyota Hilux among other items seized by officers and men of the Command to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi last weekend.
Attah disclosed further that even if a smuggler succeeded in one or two occasions, sometimes, one big catch crumbles every profit ever made with the possibility of going to jail, he therefore warned further that the safe and more profitable way is to engage in legitimate trade.
Other assorted items seized by the Command in the last two weeks with a duty paid value of N45,030,111 include 98 bags of fertiliser, 4,125 liters of PMS, 50 kegs of vegetable oil and 17 bales of second-hand clothes.
The Custom boss gave an update on the revenue generation drive of the Command following the reopening of Kamba border as he stated that after surmounting initial challenges that included ICT reactivation and engagement of Nigerien Douane to smoothing passage of common stakeholders, the border is now ready for business.
He revealed that the Command has so far generated N98, 413, 963 as revenue from imports and has facilitated export of 7,377 metric tons of local goods.
Items exported according to him include coal, onions, pepper, and ginger among others, adding that "we strongly believe that going forward, the Command will record higher revenue figures, assuring stakeholders of the readiness of his command to facilitate trade, as any attempt to short-change the government will be resisted.
