SMUGGLING NO LONGER PROFITABLE IN KEBBI....ATTAH

The Controller of Customs in charge of Kebbi State Command, Comptroller Joseph Attah has sent a strong warning to smugglers across the State reiterating that smuggling is no longer profitable as his Command seized 32 contraband items as at the month ended in March.
Briefing Journalists at the Command Headquarters in Birnin-Kebbi, Attah stated that Duty Paid value of the items sized stands at N87.79 million in line with extant laws.
He explained that 579 jerricans of petroleum products equivalent to 14,475 liters, 45 bales of second hand clothes, 45 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice, 320 sacks of scrap metal, two trucks used as means of convyance of the items and one used Ford Edge vehicle among others were sizes in the month ended March, 2022.
The Customs boss explained further that most of the inflammable products have been auctioned to government agencies and the money generations as fees has been remitted into government covers.
He disclosed that smuggling through the Command has continued to be on the decreased in the face of sustained offensive against illicit trades, adding that profit that motives the drives for smuggling is being scuttled, adding further that it will be reasonable for such people to embrace legitimate means of livelyhood.
"We have demonstrated that we are capable as we have been empower with all necessary logistics and moral support, all we need from the general public is to support us with useful information as to the movement of smugglers". He pleased.
