CANCER FOUNDATION PARTNERS NYSC IN KEBBI, OFFERS FREE SCREENING.

Medicaid Foundation, a None Governmental Organisation (NGO), has carried out a free screening exercise at the ancient town of Gwandu, Kebbi State for an early dictection of cancer and ways to combat its prevalence
.

The screening which was part of global strategy for the elimination of cervical cancer and its related diseases was carried out at the District Head of Gwandu's palace during a medical outreach organised in collaboration with National Youth Service Corps personal CDS project and the General Hospital Gwandu.

Members of the Medicaid team screened women between the ages of 30 and 70 years for Breast cancer and cervical cancer using visual inspection with Acethic Acid. The results will be followed up and free treatment will be provided for all positive cases.

Also, the team sensitised the people of Gwandu community on the various types of cancers, symptoms and preventive measure. The outreach also featured malaria and blood sugar tests, blood pressure checks as well as medical consultations.
