KEBBI LGs ELECTION : NOA WARNS POLITICIANS AGAINST ENGAGING YOUTHS AS THUGS.

KEBBI LGs ELECTION : NOA WARNS POLITICIANS AGAINST ENGAGING YOUTHS AS THUGS.

FROM : AYODELE AJOGE, BIRNIN-KEBBI.

Ahead of next week Saturday's Local Government Electiins across Kebbi State, the National Orientation Agency ( NOA ), in the State, has warned politicians against the engagement of youths for thuggery during and after the election.

The State Director of NOA, Mr. Joseph Yero- Machika, while briefing newsmen in Binrin Kebbi on last weekend said the warning was to draw the attention of the politicians and electorate toward successful elections.

Yero-Machika explained that the  briefing was preparatory geared towards free, fair, credible and hitch-free local government elections across the state.

"Our duty in NOA is to advise and sensitise the general public on government policies and programmes and in turn we take information whether good or bad from public to government". He said.

He said further that, “In essence, we facilitate the flow of information from top to button and from button to top, therefore, election is not an exception, hence the need for this briefing preparatory to the commencement of our sensitisation campaign in order to ensure free and fair LG election in the state".

He therfore advised youths to shun political thuggery, saying that such attitude was detrimental not only to the success of the elections but also to societal growth.

The NOA boss also called on Politicians in the State not to engage thugs in any undemocratic practices; let us be sympathetic to Nigerians, especially the youth, adding that the youths we are using negatively today, are the leaders of tomorrow and what image are we portraying when we give them weapons and drugs to kill themselves?

He encouraged the electorate to come out en masse to exercise their franchise, saying that it was their legitimate right that no one can afford to miss.

"You should ensure that your Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) are in your possession and should not hand it over to anyone as doing so is tantamount to handing over of your future and that of your children to unknown person. This election come Feb. 5, 2022, is very crucial in the sense that it touches the mind of the local populace as they are very closed to various candidates of various political parties". He stated.
