Herdsmen initiate plan to sack criminals among them

Fulani herdsmen, through their leadership – the Miyyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) in Taraba State, are working very hard to weed out criminal elements among them, especially kidnappers.

The initiative was in response to the pledge to the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Njidda Tafida, after he had warned them against criminal activities that had eroded the image of Fulani race not only in Taraba but in the entire country.

Consequently, the Fulani had met severally with all clans of the Fulani in all the 16 local government areas and endorsed the plan to expose and arrest all those among them who engage in criminal activities.

Part of their plans was the setting up of committees which will monitor Fulani herdsmen in all locations in the state in order to expose and arrest criminal Fulani herdsmen.

The committee will also erect tents at three or four locations in each of the local government areas of the state as monitoring points and also for the purpose of receiving complaints and alerts on activities of criminal elements.

They will also collaborate with police and all the security agents in the state including members of the vigilante.

The committee was inaugurated last Sunday at Maraban Kunini in Lau Local Government Area and witnessed by the Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abimbola Sokoya, and other security agents and traditional rulers.
