Men caught for stealing armoured electric cable at Bayan Kara Birnin kebbi pleaded guilty in Court


Two persons caught for allegedly stealing armoured electric cable from electric transformer were arraigned before the Chief magistrate court Birnin kebbi, Friday 10th August. 

They are standing trial in a case No BK/321/2023 before the Chief Magistrate Court 1 Birnin kebbi, Police vs Nuhu Ahmed, Yazidu Ahmed and Sirajo Namadina. 

They were both charged with criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property under section 60, 272, and section 303 of Kebbi state penal code.

Nuhu Ahmed and Yazidu Ahmed both pleaded guilty as charged in Court. While the third accused person Sirajo Namadina is at large.

The two were caught by people of Bayan Kara area, that had suffered series of avoidable hardship of power outage for long as a result of theft of the armoured electric cable from the transformer that supply electricity to them.

In a related Development, the Police had also charged Yusha'u Sahabi before the court in suit No. BK/322/2023, Police vs Yusha'u Sahabi. He is standing trial for screening of offender and disobedience to lawful order.
 
He was charged under section 131 and section 116 of Kebbi state penal code, but pleaded not guilty.

The police prosecutor told the court that the matter is still under investigation, and requested for adjournment to enable the police conclude the investigations.

Chief Magistrate  Samaila Kakale Mungadi set 18th day of August for sentencing, while the three men were remanded in correctional facility pending the date of resumption in court.
