The Commissioner of Police (CP) in Kebbi, Alhaji Ahmad Magaji-Kontagora, has tasked police officers to remain dedicated and patriotic in their service to the nation.
The police commissioner made the appeal at a ceremony in Birnin Kebbi in honour of two officers in the command promoted to the rank of Commissioner.
Those promoted to commissioner are Maiyaki Muhammad and Ogundare Emmanuel.
Magaji-Kontagora commended the two officers for their immense contributions to the command, which helped to bring down crime rates, especially kidnapping and other social vices in the state.
“Through the help of the promoted commissioners of police, we were able to manage the challenges of the security situation, and great improvement has been recorded.
“It is the most important rank to attain in the police force and they have attained that; they have contributed immensely in the fight against criminality and crime in the state.
“We commend the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba-Alkali, for finding the officers worthy of being promoted to the rank of commissioners of police,” he said.
Magaji-Kontagora appreciated the synergy and cohesion among various security agencies in the state in the discharge of their constitutional duties.
He urged other officers to emulate the dedication and selfless service displayed by the newly promoted commissioners.
“The officers attended to their constitutional duties with vigour, courage and without giving excuses.
“They led officers serving in the state’s police command from the front throughout their tenure as DCPs,” the CP said.
In their separate remarks, the celebrants thanked the police commissioner, the command and state government, as well as the entire people of the state for the honour done to them.
They pledged to sustain their diligence and patriotism, as well as step up their drive to ensure security in the country.
