KEBBI CUSTOMS ZEIZES GOODS WORTH N27.669 MILLION IN TWO WEEKS.

Following the reopening of Kamba land border in Kebbi State penultimate week by the Federal Government, the Nigeria Custom Service toughened vigilance on the border to checkmate any attempt by unscropulious Nigerians to smuggled out food produce into neighbouring Countries.
This vigilance has however led to the interception of one fully loaded trailer with bags of grains with registration number, JEG 27 XB by Officers of the Nigeria Custom Service along kamba - Bunza road.
The Comptroller of Customs in charge of Kebbi State Command, Joseph Attah while briefing Newsmen on the activities of his Command in the ongoing month of May expressed that physical examination of the Daf Truk revealed that it contains 800 bags of sorghum with a Duty Paid Value N6.220 million.
Attah pointed out that the ongoing crisis between Countries known for grains production which has created an uncertainty in the global market as Countries look elsewhere for these essential produce, adding that it is imperative to secure our locally produced grains to avoid food crisis.
He explained that in the last two weeks, from 1st day of May to 15th of May, 2022, the Command seized 209 jerrican of (5,225 litres) Of PMS, 18 jerricans (450 litres) of AGO, one Daf Truck used to convey 39 bags of foreign parboil rice, five cartons of medicaments and ten bales of second hand clothing.
The Duty Paid Value of all the items during the period under review according to Mr. Attah is N27.669 million, and this amount which was generated from the auction sales of PMS and AGO has been paid into the Federal Government covers.
"Following the reopening of Kamba border and the reactivation of Command's ICT, we are ready to facilitate trade for stakeholders who choose to transact their business through the Command. We only ask for compliance, proper documentation, truthful declaration and appropriate payment of duty". He said.
