Governor Bagudu has refused to pay N110m debt Kebbi state owes NBC for the license renewal of KBTV, KBRadio, will the stations be closed?

The Kebbi state government has failed to pay the license renewal fee for the state television and radio stations which cost more than N110m.  Online news platform isyaku.com has gathered.

Since 11/11/2021, the National Broadcasting Corporation NBC has sent a letter to the Kebbi State Government requesting payment of the money.

NBC Secretary, Igomu Onoja. Phd signed the document that the amount of money owed by the Kebbi State Government to NBC is one hundred and ten million, five hundred thousand naira only. (N110.500.000.00).

Online news platform isyaku.com gathered that the document was sent to the Commissioner for Information and Culture Kebbi State, and the document was delivered to the Kebbi State Government.

However, until the time of writing this article, the Kebbi State Government has not paid these fees.

According to NBC's rules, it can shut down television, radio or news stations that fail to pay license fees.

This is why it is very important that the government pay NBC so that the people of Kebbi state can continue to benefit from their state-owned media, considering that the Abubakar Atiku Bagudu government will come to an end in the next few months.
