CUSTOMS SEIZES N61.559 GOOD FROM SMUGGLERS IN KEBBI.

Kebbi State Customs Command has in the month ended 31st of August, 2022 seized goods worth N61.559 million from smugglers in it's territorial Command

The State Comptroller of Customs, Mr. Joseph Attah who disclosed this while interacting with newsmen at the Command's Headquarters in Birnin-Kebbi last weekend disclosed that the month of August was quite revealing .

Pointing out that the the Command heightened its anti-smuggling offensive against smugglers as well as engaged in strategic meetings with traditional, political and youth leaders with a view to gaining mutual understanding and compliance. 

Mr. Attah added that while anti-smuggling operations had resulted in seizures and arrest, this has also heightened revenue generation for the Nigeria Customs. 

Items seized according to the Customs boss in the month under review includes, 389 wraps of India hemp packaged in Laptop siezd, 824 Jerrycan (25 litres each of petroleum) amounting to 20,600 litres, 75 bags of foreign fertilizer comprises of 23 bags of 50kg and 52 bags of 25kg respectively, 22 bags of 50kg foreing parboiled rice.

Others includes, 128 bales of second hand clothes, 22 jerrycan of vegetable oil, one used Toyota Corolla, 54 bags of 50kg of sugar and 8 local canoes. 

"While other seizures have economic consequences, the India hemp has a grave security and helth implications that is better imagined than experienced". He captioned.
