BIG TROUBLE FOR PETROLEUM SMUGLERS IN KEBBI..... CUSTOMS BOSS.

The anti smuggling operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, Kebbi State Command has continued to give petroleum smugglers in Kebbi State tough times as the Command’s Anti-bunkering team seized 478 jerrycans of 25 liters each (11,950 liters) of petroleum  intended to be smuggled out of the country through Yauri water ways. 

Based on credible tip off, the intelligence operatives monitored the movement of loaded jerrycans of the substance to a spot near the water ways for some days before the deployment of the anti-bunkering squad, who struck and intercepted the 11,950 litres of the petrol and evacuated the product to the Command’s Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.

Commenting on the development, through a press release made available to the Nigerian Tribune by the Command's spokesman, Nasiru Manga the Customs Area Controller, Kebbi Area Command, Comptroller Joseph Attah lauded the fruitful collaboration of the relevant units under his Command, 

Appreciating the need for security agencies to share information, work together and achieve result in the interest of the nation.

The Customs boss further restated the Command’s resolve to strictly monitor all the waterways under his Command especially this raining season against smuggling of petroleum products, rice, second hand clothes and other items that could compromise the national security and economy.

He therefore called on the border communities to give relevant information that can help curtail smuggling activities in the State.

The renewed offensive on smugglers in the last two weeks in the State has seen the Command making an increased number of seizures of petrol, second hand clothes, used vehicle, foreign fertilizers among others.
