CREATING AWARENESS PENACEA FOR ENDING GENDER BASE VIOLENCE....ZAINAB BAGUDU.

Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu has expressed the need for creating awareness to ending the Gender Base Violent (GBV) among the people as it would make them to know what is right and what is wrong.
Dr. Shinkafi-Bagudu made this known at the commencement of a 16 days activism on Gender Base Violence a global annual event to fight Gender Base Violence as she staged a walk away campaign exercise in Birnin-Kebbi.
The Governor's wife who is also the Founder of Medicaid Cancer Foundation and Board Member of the Union for International Cancer Control and the Chairperson of First Ladies Against Cancer, called for concerted efforts to change the mindset of the people from doing what is wrong against Women and Children.
"I want you to understand that there are many forms of abuse, abuse does not mean taking your hand and beating somebody or inflicting injuries, these are extreme forms". She noted.
She thanked her husband, the Governor for his doggedness and selfless determination in making sure that the bills against Gender Base Violence become laws.
She reiterated that passing the laws is one thing and implementing it is another thing, adding that over 80 per cent of the people in Nigeria are residents in the rural areas who don't know about laws, they are governed by their own laws, laws of the society, laws of their religion or law of their culture.
Dr. Shinkafi-Bagudu advanced further that the laws we are having is justice system which didnot mean so much to them. But there is the need for a saner society where this laws form the foundation of giving access to justice for our people. Adding that, this is why we fought hard to ensure that these laws are there.
