BIRTH SPACING : NGO CALLS FOR MEDIA COLLABORATIONS

FROM : AYODELE AJOGE, BIRNIN-KEBBI.

A Non Governmental Organisation, Marie Stopes Nigeria, has called for collabrative efforts with Media Organizations in Northern Nigeria for birth spacing campaign.

The Regional Manager in charge of Communication, Northern Operations, Mr. Ibrahim Yusuf made this appeal at a stakeholders meeting held in Birnin-Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital.

Yusuf expressed that the purpose of organizing the meeting was to bring stakeholders together to discuss and to let them know what are the challenges and ways to engage more people.

He stressed the need for collective responsibility and efforts to make sure that women in rural areas can access the services without any reason to stop them.

"Being part of the key stakeholders, religious and traditional leaders need to key into this sensitization to make the people understand the reason why this NGO is soliciting for their support to carry the services to the door step of women in our rural community". He said.

He said further that Marie Stopped is contributing to complement the efforts of the Federal and State governments at reducing the rate of maternal morbidity in Kebbi State communities.
