Court orders remand of Maina's surety, Senator Ali Ndume till sale of N500m bail guaranty property

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday November 23, ordered that Borno South Senator Ali Ndume who stood as surety for fleeing former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina be remanded in prison.

Justice Okon Abang who presided over the case of Maina who jumped bail in his ongoing N2bn money laundering trial, said Ndume will only be released from prison when he either produces Maina in court or sells off the N500m worth of property located in Asokoro, Abuja.

The property was used as guarantee for the bail bond. He was asked to tender evidence of payment of proceeds of the sale into the Federation Account before securing his freedom.

Abang further directed security operatives to remand Ndume in Kuje prison pending when he meets the condition for release.
